“Karitas Habundat”

Friday, December 1, 7:30pm
Dr. Robles makes her conducting debut with the Harvard-Westlake Upper School Chamber Singers, Jazz Singers, Bel Canto Women’s Chorus, and Wolverine Men’s Chorus. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor Sunday

Come to the 10 am service featuring music by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. Following the service will be a light reception upstairs in the choir room to celebrate the accomplishments of the Coleridge-Taylor Project and look ahead to future recordings and performances related to the exploration of music by composers of African descent.  More about Coleridge-Taylor


“Lifted Voices”

Dr. Zanaida Robles will preach a sermon on “Lifted Voices: Singing as Direct Action for Unification and Change.”  We use our voices as channels for connecting to the spiritual power within and around us. Our singing voices have worth not because they are “beautiful” or “skillful,” but because each voice is unique and has the power to touch hearts and minds.  Visit the church’s website

I joined Jacaranda Music’s percussion ensemble (M.B. Gordy, leader) as well as soprano Holly Sedillos and organist Mark Alan Hilt for Steve Reich’s Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices & Organ and Drumming, for an exhilarating concert that won’t be forgotten.
